Winning Project: 'GP Connect'

Last year, Cambridge University Hospitals developed a dedicated hospital website for GPs, known as GP Connect.

The Trust consulted with GPs at its monthly GP Liaison Group - this confirmed how important the website was to GPs and it was useful in identifying what they would need from the site.

Once an outline site was developed, the Trust consulted more widely, through email, telephone, the AGM, their GP Liaison Manager and via articles in their GP Connect newsletter.

The result: a practical, easy-to-navigate website, providing GPs with timely information, including clinical guidelines, A-Z of services, a list of consultants, referral proformas, patient information leaflets etc. A 'News' section covers new services, clinic moves and other general news that keeps GPs up to date.

The website was launched in March 2007 and has been very well received, with over 7,500 hits per month. The website is very much part of the Trust's strategy to build goodwill with GPs, improve its reputation and influence patient choice.
