Aims & Objectives

Principal Aim

The AHCM's aim is to support and develop communicators, engagement and marketing professionals in the NHS and the healthcare sector throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The AHCM aims to:

  • Promote professional, proactive communications
  • Influence the national communications agenda
  • Link members so that they can share information
  • Share, recognise and reward good practice through the AHCM awards scheme
  • Build awareness and understanding of key health communications issues
  • Represent and support members
  • Explore opportunities for joint working with other like-minded organisations for the benefit of members.

Our Objectives

  • To facilitate networking amongst AHCM members
  • To provide a national conference and award event
  • To deliver a training plan in line with members' needs that encompasses mentoring opportunities
  • To promote and expand membership and benefits
  • To collaborate with other organisations and forge new partnerships
  • To sustain long-term financial viability.

Current activities

Our current programme of activity includes:

- An annual conference and communications awards

- A regular quarterly newsletter

- Improving the AHC website and e-communications

- Recruiting members
- Varied training programme at competitive rates.
